Traditional Art Portfolio

My work is mixed-media when I’m not working digitally. Most of my work is a combination of watercolors, ink, and colored pencil. The top gallery features the body of my portfolio and a few highlight pieces.

The Art of Finding Yourself

Multimedia. 2021

I had this idea of a hipster-type “Where’s Waldo” character that is hidden away in a library and ironically (or maybe not) getting lost in a book titled, “The Art of Finding Yourself”.

Reading has always been a huge part of my life. I used to participate in summer reading challenges at the local library growing up. Every time I went to the library I would be in and out with stacks of books, and I would spend my summer days just burning through them. I read a little of everything; fiction, animals, mummies, rocks and minerals, you name it.

The titles of various well-known books are hidden in and around the area in the painting. Titles include: Dracula, Lord of the Flies, Dune, Hamlet, Catch-22, The Color Purple, and more. I went for a mix of notable classics and historical works of literature or poetry.

Jack & Dean

Mixed Media. 2021.

After I finished reading Big Sur by Jack Kerouac, I saw a picture of him standing next to a giant neon bar sign in some downtown area. I decided I wanted to create a scene with that “out-too-late burnt out feeling” if you will. I also wanted to incorporate Neal Cassady, so I added him standing to the side, smoking a cigarette.

Watery Grave

Mixed Media. 2021.

I like giant skeletons.
